Weekend Forecast: Cooler Nights, Mild Days

Kris Posman

To be grateful...or to complain?

I heard it all this morning.  Some so thankful for the much needed rainfall, and others saying it is too gloomy to get out of bed.

Well, in this forecast, we all got what we needed.  We started with rain this morning, but it didn't take long for the sun to come back out.

Here are some rainfall totals from last night's and this morning's event.  The prediction was for most areas to pick up between 1/4 to 1/2 an inch, and this is what most areas got.  But not the coast...oh no...the storm just ran out of steam by the time it got there.

Walterboro:  0.64"...Brooklet:  0.51"...Ridgeland:  0.30"...Hampton:  0.24"...Richmond Hill:  0.22"...Savannah:  0.20"...Hilton Head:  0.01"...and Skidaway Island:  0.02"

Now...are you ready for your weekend?

For tonight, it is turning much cooler than last night.  Overnight lows will be 20 to 25 degrees colder.  Under clear skies and lighter winds, inland areas will drop to the upper 30s to the lower 40s.  Areas at the coast will drop to the upper 40s.

On Saturday, it won't take long to warm back up.  With sunny skies and westerly winds, it will be comfortable with highs reaching the upper 60s to near 70 degrees.

On Saturday night, another cold front will push through.  Only this time, this cold front is a "dry" cold front.  We will see a brief increase in cloud cover, but there is no chance of rain.  Because of this cold front, it will be slightly cooler overnight.  Lows will drop to the mid to upper 30s for inland areas and the lower 40s at the coast.

On Sunday, skies will stay sunny, and highs will top out in the lower 60s.

Looking ahead to next week...we will start dry, and temperatures will gradually warm up.  We will begin with highs in the 60s, and the 70s will return by the middle of the week.  Just keep in mind, it will still get chilly at night with lows in the 30s.

Have a wonderful weekend and keep looking up!
