A Stormy Start to the Week
July 05 2009
A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for Emanuel, Montgomery, Toombs, Treutlen, and Wheeler Counties until 9pm. For more details click here.Tonight: mostly cloudy, scattered storms...lows in the mid 70s...SW wind 5-15 mph
Monday: cloudy, thunderstorms likely...highs in the upper 80s...W wind 5-10 mph
Monday night: mostly cloudy, chance of storms...lows in the mid 70s...W wind 5-10 mph
A frontal system is beginning to work its way through the southeastern US. The front itself should move through the Lowcountry of SC on Monday and should stall out over southern Georgia by Tuesday. Small disturbances will move along the front over the next several days causing a continued chance of thunderstorms through the middle of the week. Our best chance for storms will be on Monday afternoon when we should see cloudy skies with widely scattered storms. The rain should diminish overnight, but there's still a good chance of storms developing again on Tuesday. For Wednesday and Thursday we can expect just scattered late afternoon storms. Highs to start the week should be in the upper 80s, which is slightly below average. By next weekend, highs should be back into the mid 90s and it does look like Friday through Sunday will be dry.
